The heart is a muscular organ which pumps blood through the circulatory system, providing the body with oxygen and nutrients. The heart is located in the middle of the chest. There are four chambers in the heart of a human: upper left and right atria and lower left and right ventricles. Each ventricle and atrium is commonly referred to together as the left or right heart.
